Maggie Sayles' Bio

Maggie Sayles, Disability Representative, since 2004.

Rep. Sayles has dedicated herself to successfully representing hundreds of people with disabilities. Since undergoing an examination regarding Social Security law in 2007, Maggie has been certified as a Disability Representative and has many years of experience practicing before the Social Security Administration (SSA). Ms. Sayles participates in SSA’s Eligible for Direct Payment Non-Attorney (EDPNA) program. Like an attorney practicing before SSA, Ms. Sayles retains malpractice insurance as a disability representative. She is also required to complete and report continuing legal education requirements to SSA annually. 

Maggie has established herself as a very qualified representative and knows the disability Administrative Law Judges very well, some of which she has known for over 16 years. Ms. Sayles has a great report with the district Social Security offices and Disability Determination State Agencies not only in Vermont and Northern New York, but regionally as well. Ms. Sayles works closely with the medical professionals throughout Vermont and Northern New York. Maggie works closely with the medical community and probably has worked with your medical professional before. 

Before establishing her own disability representation practice, Ms. Sayles formerly worked with Anderson Lamb & Associates PC, Arthur Anderson & Associates PLLC, and Anderson & Buran PC. Since 2004, she has been successfully practicing as a Disability Representative alongside Mr. Anderson, Mr. Buran and Mr. Lamb for several years. Following her passion as an advocate, Maggie is continually pushing her ongoing education and case law knowledge through her committed research of the District, Circuit and Supreme Court, as well as Social Security rulings and Congressional hearings regarding SSA. Maggie has trained extensively to evaluate medical and vocational information in the context of Social Security Disability and SSA criteria to present the best case possible on behalf of those she represents. Maggie fights for the worker. She will finish your case and see it through with the compassion and dignity you deserve. With a history of working closely with the offices of her Senators and Congress people, her commitment as an advocate for those with disabilities has driven her career. 

It has always been Maggie's goal to become an attorney and she has dedicated herself fully. We are proud to announce Ms. Sayles will sit for the Vermont Bar Examination in February 2021. Maggie completed her four year Law Office Study, a program unique to Vermont allowing one to clerk under the supervision of an attorney in lieu of law school. A culmination of four years of apprenticeship and study requiring dedication, poise and self-drive. There are lawyers all over Vermont who have gone this route, from private attorneys to public defenders, prosecutors and judges. As a native Vermonter, stoic ad proud, this option was the cleat career choice for Ms. Sayles.  As an alum of University of Vermont, Burlington is Maggie's community and she strives to help support her community in as many ways as possible. Maggie is a native Vermonter with deep roots in the Green Mountain State. Establishing her own advocacy group representing people with disabilities in her home state of Vermont and she will do so with respect and honor representing the worker.
